ShotOps
FAQ

The questions people actually ask.

Including the ones with uncomfortable answers. If something here is unclear or turns out to be wrong in the field, tell support and we will fix the page.

Cost and accounts

Is ShotOps free?

The camera is. Capture, jobs, phases, tags, the library, markup, PDF reports, and local export all run on your phone and cost nothing, permanently. It is not a trial and it does not expire. Personal Pro adds hosted backup and the web portal, and that part is paid.

Do I need an account?

No. You can install ShotOps, skip the sign-in screen entirely, and use it as a full work camera. An account is only required for Personal Pro or Crew, because those involve our servers.

What does Personal Pro cost?

We have not published a price. Personal Pro is in beta, access is by invitation, and there is no live billing yet. We would rather wait until storage, transfer, and support cost is measured than publish a number we have to raise. The reasoning is on the plans page.

How do I get into the beta?

The local camera needs no invitation. Install it from the download page. For Personal Pro, email Support@itenvy.com and say what you shoot and roughly how much.

Your photos

Does ShotOps upload my photos?

Not unless you have Personal Pro or Crew and have signed in. Without an account nothing leaves the phone. After you sign in to Personal Pro, eligible jobs sync by default and you can switch sync off for any individual job. Signing in does not retroactively upload every local job you already had.

Where do photos live on my phone?

In a visible album at Pictures/ShotOps, readable by your normal Android gallery and file tools. Job organization, tags, and markup are kept in a local database, and supported Android versions also get a recovery manifest under Documents/ShotOps. Your work is not locked inside our app.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Honestly: on the free local camera, the photos are gone with the phone, exactly as they would be with the stock camera app. Local means local, including the downside. If losing a phone would cost you a job record, that is the reason Personal Pro exists — synced jobs are restorable onto a replacement device.

Does ShotOps track my location?

Only when you turn it on, and only in the foreground. ShotOps uses foreground location for geotags and job-site tools such as Nearby and geofenced routing. It does not request background location and it is not built to report where a worker is during the day. It is off unless permitted, and visible when used.

Is my media encrypted?

Anything uploaded is encrypted on the device before it leaves, and the backup key is not sent to the identity provider, the database, or the storage bucket. The browser decrypts with a key you hold. That also means a lost user-held recovery kit cannot be recreated by us — keep it somewhere other than the phone. Details are in the privacy policy.

Getting the app

Is it on the Play Store?

Not yet. Today ShotOps is a direct-install (sideload) Android build from shotops.app/download. Google Play internal testing is the next distribution step.

Why a direct install?

Because the app is further along than the store paperwork. Publishing requires a verified developer organization, an identity and payments profile, signing-key transfer, and the full set of console questionnaires. We would rather have field testers now than an empty listing. Your browser will ask you to allow installation from this source, and the download page publishes a SHA-256 so you can verify what you installed.

Will a Play install replace my sideloaded copy without losing data?

That is the intent, and it is why the first Play release has to use the existing release signing key rather than a new one. Until it is proven on a real phone, treat it as unproven and keep exports of anything you cannot lose.

Is there an iPhone version?

No, and not soon. ShotOps is Android-first and iOS comes after the Android build and the Pro workflow are proven. There is no TestFlight build and no waiting list to join. If you are on iOS today, there is nothing we can give you.

What phones does it run on?

Android 7 and newer. The published beta build is for 64-bit ARM phones, which covers essentially every modern Android handset.

Bosses and crews

Does my boss see my personal photos?

No. Crew-managed work and your personal or local work are separate on the phone and stay visibly labeled. Personal media is never silently pulled into a company workspace, and joining a crew does not hand over the jobs you already had. A crew sees crew-owned work.

Do I need my own subscription to work for a crew?

No. When Crew ships, the company entitlement covers the company workspace. Your local and personal workspaces remain your own and are unaffected by whether the company keeps paying.

What happens if I leave a crew or get offboarded?

Company access is revoked and managed data is removed from your device according to the crew policy. Your local and personal jobs are not touched. What we will not claim is total recall: if someone already exported, shared, or photographed a screen, no app can pull that copy back.

What happens if I stop paying for Personal Pro?

The local camera keeps working and the media in your Pictures/ShotOps album stays on the phone. You lose hosted access — backup, the web portal, and restore — not your work. Export anything you want a second copy of before a subscription lapses.

Is Crew available now?

No. Crew is in development and there is no self-serve sign-up. If you run a crew and want to be part of the early testing, say so when you email support.

Account and data

How do I delete my account?

Sign in and use the account controls in the portal, or email us from the address on the account if you cannot sign in. Deletion revokes device and web access, deletes hosted media bytes before the related records, and leaves only a minimal record where security or law requires it. The full sequence is on the account-deletion page.

Does deleting my account delete the photos on my phone?

No. Local files are yours and stay where they are. Delete them through ShotOps or through Android photo and file tools. Copies you already exported to another app or provider are outside our reach entirely.

What is the web app for?

Browsing synced jobs, filing and marking up media on a desktop, building reports, and checking device and backup status. It needs Personal Pro or Crew. What the web app does covers it, or go straight to app.shotops.app.

Are there ads or tracking?

No ads, no advertising identifier, no advertising SDK, and no behavioral analytics required for local capture and organization.

Who is behind ShotOps?

ShotOps is built by Envy Forge. The legal operator is IT Envy Technology Solutions LLC. The terms of service and privacy policy say what we are on the hook for.

Something is broken. Who do I tell?

Email support with your phone model, Android and ShotOps versions, whether the job is local or synced, and what you expected to happen. Never send passwords, authentication codes, encryption keys, or recovery kits.
